International Year One
Prepare for higher education at Royal Holloway
If you’re interested in studying abroad and want to fully immerse yourself in UK university life, the International Year One might be the path for you.
The international Year One is a two-semester programme designed to introduce you to the key concepts of your chosen field of study, giving you the skills required to seamlessly progress on to the second year of your degree of choice. It is equivalent to the first year of an undergraduate degree.
This programme is available to students who have completed local high school education and is offered in a range of different subjects.

Why study the International Year One?
The International Year One consists of several modules that will help you better understand your subject area. Choose your modules to better suit your future career path.
By studying the International Year One and progressing to the second year of your chosen degree, you will be able to graduate within three years. This will not only save you money on tuition fees but also allow you to find your ideal job and begin your career a lot sooner.
The course also includes English language tuition. This will help you improve your speaking, writing and academic language skills, preparing you for learning in another language at undergraduate level.
In 2023, 96% of students who completed their International Year One at the Royal Holloway International Study Centre were offered a place at Royal Holloway, University of London.
